God is our life’s compass. We use a compass to give us direction and orientation. A compass helps us to know where we are and where we are headed to. In life, we need to know where we are and where we are headed, because if we do not, we will wander in this life with no direction. We need to know where we came from, we need to know whose we are. We need a life compass. We need a resting place.
We need a firm foundation that is not washed away by the storms of life. In life, we need God. God is our resting place, He is our firm foundation, He is our source, He is the One who shows us the way we should go. God and His Word is our life’s compass.
When we are resting in God, we are assured that we are in the right place. When we are resting in God, we know where we are, we know the direction, we know which turn to take.
God’s Word is our roadmap in this world; it contains everything we need to know in our journey towards eternity. Our destination is eternity with God; our aim is to please God and make it to heaven and live with Him for eternity. The Word of God contains His promises, His warnings, His directions. The Word of God tells us what God wants of us, He tells us how to live with each other, He tells us how to have a relationship with Him. His Word has life, it is the Living Word of God. When we study and meditate on His Word, it is one of His ways of talking to us. Through God’s Word, we are able to know God.
Our compass is God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God’s Word is breathed and inspired by Him, that means when we are in His Word, we are able to know the heart of God. We are able to know the character of God. Knowing then the attributes of God, we can use that to guide us in this journey of life. Anything that contradicts His Word or character is not from Him. When we know the truth, the truth sets us free.
The world is full of chaos and deception and we need to know the truth for ourselves lest we fall. If we do not know the truth, we will start accepting the lies from the enemy. The enemy twists the Word to fit his evil plans, but when we are grounded and firm in God, we will be able to identify the lies. We will see lies for what they are, we will see the enemy for who he is. We put on the full armor of God to fight the spiritual battles; we do not fight against flesh and blood.
May we remain grounded, may our faith in God be unshakable. Through faith, we are able to extinguish all the flaming arrows thrown by the enemy. Our life here on earth is temporary, we have an eternal home where we will live after life here on earth is done. What we do with our time here will determine where we end up. We should not lose sight of where we are headed. Nothing in this world is worth losing eternal life.
“And you, son of man, thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel, ‘An end! The end is coming on the four corners of the land. ‘Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways and bring all your abominations upon you” Ezekiel 7:2-3.
We serve a jealous God; He will not give His glory to another. God should be first in our lives, He should be our everything. When everything else is gone, God remains.
God is who He says He is, He does what He says He will do. His Word will come to pass. May we rest in God.
Blessings.
