We should be radical with sin. We should never joke around with sin, we should never joke around with the enemy. The enemy only comes to steal, kill and destroy. We have to see sin for what it really is, sin. We have to come into agreement with God about sin. God hates sin and so should we. We cannot entertain sin and expect to come out unscarred. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death. It is that serious.
We should never entertain anything or anyone who is driving us into sin or causing us to fall.
We should flee if we have to, that is how radical we should deal with sin. If someone is leading us into sin we are to set firm boundaries, if going to a certain place is not good for us then we are to avoid that place, if we have to cut off certain friendships or relationships then we should cut them off, if we have to avoid listening to something or someone then let us stop, if we have to stop watching something then let us stop; any sin in our lives has to go!
Sin separates us from God.
The Bible tells us that to fear the Lord is to hate evil. When we have reverential fear of God, we will hate sin. We will be radical with sin. We are to live in obedience to God, our obedience is an expression of how much we love God. Jesus told us that if we love Him then we will obey His commandments. We are to offer our lives as a living sacrifice to God, we have to die to the carnal nature and walk by the spirit. We are to be holy as God is holy.
Anything or anyone who causes us to sin, we have to distance ourselves from them. That does not make us self-righteous, it means we know that bad company corrupts good character. We are to pray for people but at the same time, we are to guard our hearts. The Bible tells us that there are certain people we are to keep away from. We should not be ignorant of the devil’s tactics; he is looking for people to devour and he tries to use all tactics to cause God’s people to fall.
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
The Bible clearly tells us to avoid such people.
We should never entertain sin; sin is deadly. It may appear appealing at first but the cost to pay is usually out of proportion, the enemy wishes us no good. The Bible tells us that if your right eye causes you to sin, you gorge it out, and if your right hand causes you to sin, you cut it off! If there is anything or anyone who causes us to sin we have to disassociate ourselves from such.
Joseph in the Bible was very radical with sin; Potiphar’s wife looked with desire at him and told him, ‘Lie with me.’ However, Joseph refused and said he could not do such a great evil and he could not sin against God. She kept persisting and one day it happened that none of the men of the household was there inside.
“She caught him by his garment, saying, ‘Lie with me!’ And he left his garment in her hand and fled, and went outside.” Genesis 39:12.
Joseph refused to participate in sin, he refused to sin against God. He was later falsely imprisoned but eventually, God blessed him in great ways. He found favor with God and was eventually made ruler of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh.
Sin has nothing good to offer, Satan has nothing good to offer. A person profits nothing by gaining all the worldly things with all the pleasures of this world and yet lose his soul. Only in God do we get eternal life. May we accept God’s gift of salvation which is by grace through faith. Jesus is the only way, the truth, and the life.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23.
